Letters To BIS KIDS

Victoria!
Thank you so much for your time and your interest in the education of our children. This workshop seems to have touched the lives of these families in a very special and important manner. For the kids to be able to have the chance to express their feelings around addiction and be acknowledged for the ways their lives have been affected; they can begin to make choices for their own lives and start their healing process. The work that you all do is amazing and we are fortunate to have met you.
We look forward to our future collaboration including your participation at the FaCT conference! Thank you again and have a great day!

Diana LaRusso, M.S., MFT
FaCT Program Coordinator

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter in support of the BIS KIDS Program, which is a comprehensive substance abuse program for children. We have had the pleasure of experiencing three BIS KIDS weekend workshops at Corbin Family Resource Center over this past year.

Corbin Family Resource Center has a 35-year history of community service to the residents of Santa Ana and the surrounding community. The mission of Corbin is to provide services that strengthen and support families and educate the community to raise healthy children. Several of our services are focused on the prevention and treatment of child abuse. We offer many services ranging from health, counseling, and education to recreational activities that help create a better quality of life for the residents of our city. One gap in our service delivery was in the area substance abuse prevention. The BIS KIDS Program has filled that gap.

BIS KIDS is proactive substance abuse prevention program that equips children, between the ages of 7 & 12, to successfully face the challenges of exposure to drugs and alcohol, including the addiction and mental health issues that impact families, schools and communities. The program is facilitated by skilled counselors who lead all the group sessions.

The reception of the BIS KIDS Program at Corbin Family Resource Center has been outstanding. Families have expressed the power and impact that program has had on the lives of their children, as well as the adult family members who are invited to participate in the final group session.

It is without hesitation that I recommend the BIS KIDS Program for all communities throughout Orange County and beyond. The issues of substance abuse and addiction are pervasive in our society and it’s imperative that our children are reached through a preventative program such as BIS KIDS.
